Department: Engineering Supervisor: Facilities Manager FLSA Category: Non-Exempt Terms of Employment: At Will Position Status: Part-time (hours vary based on need) Hourly Rate: Starting at $15 per hour based on experience Learn more and apply directly online at: Position Objective: The Grounds Maintenance position is responsible for maintaining the exterior of campus buildings and the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds. Duties and Responsibilities: Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Exterior Building Maintenance Keeping structures free of cobwebs, wasps and birds nests. Washing all venue exterior windows. Keeping all stairwells free of debris. Removing graffiti from structures utilizing proper chemicals and tools. Landscape Maintenance Operating gas-powered leaf blower, pressure washer and tree trimming equipment. Cultivating, planting, and maintaining planters as necessary. Grounds Maintenance Keeping walkways free of stains and gum. Emptying trash cans throughout the grounds. Safety Adhering to all safety programs and policies and performing work in a safe manner. Reporting safety hazards to the Safety Committee immediately. Conducting all work in accordance with CCAE’s policies and procedures, including safety, time & attendance, and uniform policies. Other duties as may be deemed necessary by the direct supervisor or lead painter. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must operate equipment including gas powered leaf blower, pressure washer, and tree trimming equipment. Able to lift or move 50 pounds or more. Able to stand for 6+ hours. Able to reach, bend, stoop. Must handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc. Must be able to be highly productive and do high quality work with minimal supervision. Must wear appropriate uniform at all times. Must have good communication skills, with the ability to read and understand English. Strong attention to detail and ability to accomplish multiple priorities in a fast-paced work setting. Physical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds or more, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach, bend, stoop, climb, use ladders, and stand for 8 hours or more; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Working Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Working conditions may be indoor or outdoor setting depending on the work being performed, on ladders and on slippery walking surfaces. Varied weather conditions are expected. Noise levels vary, but can be high. Varying schedule to include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours.
