Our company, MC2 Fiber Optics, INC, is currently located in Ontario, but we are looking to relocate to Los Angeles County area by the start of 2022. MC2 Fiber Optics, INC is a steady growing company looking to expand our current team roster. We provide fiber optics installation services to various businesses and schools on behalf of major telecommunication companies. In addition to the installation of fiber optics, we also perform construction duties such as working with concrete, asphalt, digging trenches and/or traffic control. While we are currently located in Ontario, the majority of the worksites are located in in L.A. County. As with any installation or construction position, your day will begin very early in the morning. If you are hired before our pending move, we may ask you to begin your day at our warehouse, loading their fleet truck with material and equipment needed for the day or meet our crew at the jobsite (if you are located in LA County). We are considered First Responders when a fiber optic cable is damaged and/or affected by fire, an earthquake, when a telephone pole falls, or an outage from an animal chewing the wires. While we do not expect you to be on call 24/7, we will coordinate your outage attendance based on your experience, skillset, and knowledge. We are looking for a Lead Fiber Technician. The task of the Lead Fiber Technician is, but not limited to: • managing a small team (4-5 members) • construction work when needed • aid in designing the testing the fiber optics, • sets up the electrical and electronic testing • look into existing laser and optical fiber devices and systems. The fiber technician works both inside and outside the office and is responsible to take care of the installation troubleshooting and other technical aspects such as determining how much material and equipment is needed for the job. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: • Punctuality, it is a MUST • Underground and Aerial construction work • Operating heavy machinery • Drive large fleet truck and trailers • Resolve, repair and install fiber optics systems, ensuring they work properly • Examine and replace faulty and old fiber optics cables • Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas • Manage/supervise a staff of 4-5 personnel, along with coach and train personnel Requirements: • Must have at least 5-7 years in the telecommunications industry, preferably fiber optics • Must have 1-2 years of experience as a lead or supervisor • Must have a clean motor vehicle driving recording • Must not be color-blind • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds • Must be legal to work in the US • Flexible mornings, as you may start work at various early morning hours • Able to pass a drug test Skills (not necessary but a plus): • Spatial Awareness • Commercial Class A license • Cannot be afraid of heights • Attention to detail • Map reading • Bilingual is a huge plus (preferably Spanish)
