Career Opportunity We are currently accepting applicants for our PSGT Trainee program (Polysomnography Trainee), starting in October. This program has been developed for candidates interested in pursuing a long-term career in Sleep Medicine. We offer our applicants the opportunity to enter this growing field through didactic education and hands-on experience. The Sleep Technician Trainee will learn through hands-on experience to verify medical orders, explain procedures to patients, prepare and calibrate equipment, perform PAP mask fittings, perform polysomnographic data acquisition, document observations, and perform appropriate therapeutic interventions according to protocols. Prerequisite: High School Diploma or equivalent AND 80-hour ASTEP Introductory Course, hosted by California Sleep Solutions, starting October 4th. This course will include an overview of sleep medicine, sleep disorders, and polysomnography. Participants will learn how to perform a sleep study and therapeutic interventions through a combination of classroom and hands-on components. INTERNSHIP Participants completing the course will be eligible to apply for the internship. Interns work one-on-one with a mentor to apply sleep medicine knowledge in the sleep lab environment. Hours will vary but majority occur overnight. A certificate of completion will be awarded documenting 100+ clinical hours and participants will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position at California Sleep Solutions as a sleep technician trainee. Program Outline The sleep technician trainee will further advance sleep medicine knowledge and skills and work toward becoming a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). The RPSGT is an internationally recognized credential representing the highest certification in the field for the health care professionals who clinically assess patients with sleep disorders. All resources needed to successfully sit for and pass the RPSGT exam are provided. Self-study time is necessary and study sessions are available. A Two (2) year employment agreement is required. Employees are expected to sit for the RPSGT exam at the time of eligibility. Work hours will range from 20-40 each week, Monday-Sunday, ten-hour shifts (8:45PM-6:45AM). Must be available to work in various locations in the Greater Sacramento Area. Health benefits, paid holidays, paid time off and 401K available after orientation, training, and introductory periods.
