We are looking for project-to-project temporary employees as well as full-time positions. Must be willing to travel for work. We are an innovative design & construction company specializing in the creation of zoo exhibits, water features, chemical-free Natural Swimming Pools and Swimming Ponds, and other custom-designed outdoor experiences. Members of our Construction/Fabrication Team use a variety of construction and artistic techniques to build each unique exhibit or space, so problem solving, flexibility and a positive attitude are a must! As a member of our team, your duties would range from: Building Large-Scale Waterfalls & Water Features Artistically Sculpting & Painting Concrete to Resemble Real Trees or Boulders Creating Scaled Models & Dioramas in our KC Warehouse Travel the country Excavation & Material Handling w/ Large Machinery Stacking, Breaking & Swinging Boulders Creating Dry-Stacked Retaining Walls Plumbing Water Features Pouring & Stamping Concrete for Patios & Exhibit Floors Constructing Wooden Decks, Piers, Docks, Bridges, Ladders & Treehouses Job Benefits: Starting pay is $15.00 - $20.00 based on experience Healthcare & Retirement Benefits Paid personal days and holidays The potential to travel often across the USA. This fall, we will be working in California, Ohio, Massachusetts and Maine! Work within a tight-knit, dedicated crew of artisans Get the satisfaction of seeing a project progress from start to finish (and see it enjoyed for many years to come) Enormous potential for upward movement in the company Many on-the-job training opportunities to improve your skills Job Requirements: Must live in or within commuting distance of Kansas City, KS Must be willing to travel on a regular basis for out of town projects (typical time out of town will be 3-4 weeks). All lodging, transportation and other travel expenses are paid/provided by Total Habitat, PLUS a daily food allowance while out of town. We currently have projects in California, Ohio, Texas and Oklahoma as well as upcoming jobs closer to home in Missouri. Must be flexible: Despite our best efforts, plans (and weather) change often, so a c'est la vie attitude is crucial! Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a valid driver's license Preferred Skills/Experience: Background in art, especially painting, sculpting or model making Concrete experience, flatwork (patios, sidewalks, floors) or shotcrete Carpentry experience, especially decks, pergolas or small structures Experience with ponds, waterfalls, fountains A self-starter who can learn quickly and work quickly Experience with heavy machinery like a skid steer/track loader, compactor, excavator/backhoe, trencher Job Types: Full-time, Temporary (project based).
