Description

Have an idea for a story and want to learn how to transform it into an engaging screenplay? Or maybe you don’t have a specific idea yet, but you have an urge to nurture your creative side? Or maybe you’re curious and want to try something new? Come join a community of aspiring writers for an engaging, informative Zoom experience learning about visual storytelling. Whether you’ve never written anything before or have a couple of scripts under your belt, you will learn something valuable in this class. A screenplay is a blueprint for a movie. Each week we focus on a different aspect including plot, character, formatting, anatomy of the scene, dialogue, subplots, theme/ genre, revisions, and what do you do with it once your script is finished. In the first half of each class, we focus on discussing the given topic including a variety of writing exercises, questions from students, movie analysis, weekly homework assignments, and more. In the second half of each class, we focus on giving all of your projects feedback. Each student can submit their project to the class in the form of a story map (aka labeled synopsis) or screenplay pages. I cover both the creative process of writing the script with practical approaches of how to keep your momentum going as well as how to turn your script into a polished screenplay that’s ready to go out into the world. All genres are welcome. All experience levels are welcome. We’re meeting Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 10pm EST for a total of ten 3-hour Zoom classes starting October 5th. $419 (returning students: $389) To enroll or to learn more, click on “More Dates” at the bottom to see this particular Tuesday class.
