Join the Fair Trade Fam. Give your time in exchange for access to the Sustainable Fashion Community Center. Looking to get involved in something this fall that serves the community? Want to learn more about sustainable fashion, community organizing, and how to cultivate meaningful change? Join the NYC Fair Trade Coalition Co-operative. We're looking for active members in the community to help operate to the Sustainable Fashion Community Center. This center is home to small businesses, ethical consumers, students, senior citizens, and all who wish to put their ethics first. Attend this two hour info session to learn more about the benefits and responsibilities in joining the co-operative. Responsibilities include: Signing up for 4 hour weekly shiftsWelcome swappersLearning how to accept donated itemsInputting collected dataOrganizing swap racksCheckout swappersLearning about and sharing information on fair tradePart docent, part greeter - you will be asked to share information on fair trade brandsSetting up for eventsCleaning up after eventsBenefits include: Free swapping of fashion items, books, plants, and soon fabric!Access to photo studioAbility to hold small meetingsFree business adviceBuilt in friends & communitySafe space to hang outAbility to host events once a monthFree classesGain community organizing experienceSocial/Emotional Development The NYC Fair Trade Coalition is a grassroots organization that promotes fair trade businesses and retailers in New York City and educates consumers on the importance of fair trade.   It partners with ethically-aligned businesses, retailers, NGOs, and citizens in New York City to host events and engage the public in dialogue. It offers its members advertising support through its social media channels, coordinates sales events, and fosters networking among ethical and fair trade businesses.   Become a member here!
