Rides to raise awareness about bicycle and pedestrian issues in the area around the Hillsdale Caltrain Station and 28th Ave
City of San Mateo local teams invites you to community bike rides to raise awareness about bicycle and pedestrian issues in the area around the Hillsdale Caltrain Station and 28th Avenue.
We have three dates set for community bike rides:
Tuesday, August 31st at11:30 am Saturday, September 4th at 10:30 amSunday, September 19th at 10:30 am*Registration is encouraged but not necessary.
Each ride will meet near the front entrance of Nueva School at 131 E 28th Ave and end at same place, with option for a post-ride hangout
On the rides, we will survey newly installed bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in the Bay Meadows neighborhood transit-oriented development, with a focus on 28th Avenue. We will assess the facility’s ability to ensure safe access for bicycles and pedestrians, especially at the intersections along the route. This will be a leisurely bike ride.
These events are hosted by the SVBC San Mateo Local team. Our group advocates for safe biking options for riders of all ages, and pedestrian, transit, and other active transportation improvements to make our streets safer, improve public health, reduce congestion, and combat climate change.
