Summary: Work on our diversified, certified organic Shively Farm in a variety of activities. This position is through mid-November. Location: CR Shively Farm, 409 Shively Flat Road, Scotia CA 95565 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Grow, cultivate, and harvest crops. Aid in daily livestock care. Work on our CSA program, including packing and delivering shares. Provide general supervision to student workers. Work at our weekly campus market, including setup, customer service, and tear down. Lead student workers through various farm tasks. Aid in Farm class labs. Knowledge and Skills: This position requires general knowledge of farm activities. Must be able to work safely and with others. Abilities: Must be able to perform all of the essential duties of the position with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain tools and equipment in working condition. Requires the ability to learn the layout and requirements of the assigned area. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must be able to follow oral and written directions. Physical Abilities: Requires the ability to walk, bend, stoop and perform repetitive arm and shoulder motions with moderate exertion. Must lift light to medium weight materials or equipment up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis, over 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Requires visual acuity and depth perception to operate equipment and read safety materials. Education and Experience: Experience in a farm setting preferred, but not required.
