Press release from the City of Salem: August 30, 2021 - 4:19pm Effective Tuesday, September 7, 2021, the downtown Salem walk-up COVID-19 "Stop the Spread" testing site will be relocated from its current site, at City Hall Annex, to St. Peter's Church, 24 St. Peter Street. Testing hours at the new location will be Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Follow the posted signage at the new location to enter the site. Masks are required inside the testing site at all times. Drive-up COVID-19 testing will continue to be available at Salem High School, 77 Wilson Street, on the following days and hours: Mondays-Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No testing will take place on September 4, 2021 and September 6, 2021 due to the Labor Day holiday. Testing will resume at the above hours on September 7, 2021. Testing does not take place on holidays. Testing is free of charge to all. No proof of insurance or citizenship is necessary. Testing is via nasal swab, administered by trained EMTs, and processed via RT PCR at the Broad Institute Laboratory. Test results are returned, whether positive or negative, within 48 hours. You do not need to be symptomatic, quarantining, or have been in proximity to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in order to receive this testing.
