SARASOTA, FL — St. Armands Circle is hosting the first-ever Sarasota Arts Live event Sept. 18, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in collaboration with the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota. The lineup features notable pillars of the Sarasota arts community, including the West Coast Black Theatre Troup, Chamber Orchestra of Sarasota, Jazz Club of Sarasota, and Florida Studio Theatre, as well as national recording artist, The Alan Grant Band, St. Armands Circle said in a news release. The arts-focused event will pair an ensemble of performances with immersive artist pop-ups spread throughout the district's Circle Park, allowing attendees to move from booth to booth while connecting with local artists, taking in live painting sessions and interactive exhibits. "St. Armands Circle has remained a standout destination for unrivaled summer fun, food, music and shopping. Our Sol of the Circle event series was instrumental in this year's efforts, and we expect things to only get better with the kick-off of Sarasota Arts Live on Sept. 18," Geoffrey Michel, chair of the St. Armands Business Improvement District (BID), said. "We hope the community will join us for this first-of-its-kind special event." Like what you're reading? Invite a friend to subscribe to free Sarasota newsletters and real-time email alerts. Sarasota Arts Live will serve as a crescendo for St. Armands Circle's Sol of the Circle series, a four-month calendar of recurring and unique events hosted around the shopping district. The summer-long celebration was an effort by the St. Armands Circle Association and St. Armands BID geared towards locals and tourists. "Bringing the arts to historic St. Armands Circle was an easy decision," Jim Shirley, executive director of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota, said. "Together, we have been able to create a new featured event to spotlight the very best of Sarasota's vibrant arts community. We're excited to share this with attendees and hope the event will become an institution for years to come."
