In New Mexico, 58.4% of the population are fully vaccinated, a larger share than the U.S. average. Meanwhile, the virus continues to spread. In total, there have been 218,569 confirmed cases of the virus in New Mexico as of August 17 — or 10,431 for every 100,000 people.
