Description
BEL AIR, MD —Homestead Wakefield Elementary School has been named a school of excellence by the National PTA.
"It was a yearlong process that included parent surveys, school activities and working with the staff and parents to meet the criteria for this award," Harford County Public Schools reported in a statement Tuesday, Aug. 31.
Being a school of excellence means that Homestead Wakefield's PTA and administrators have committed to a plan for improving student success and increasing family engagement. The program runs for two years.
Homestead Wakefield was one of 12 schools in Maryland to receive the designation and the only one in Harford County.
Nationwide, 351 schools were named schools of excellence for the 2020-2022 period, according to the National PTA.
