PRINCETON, NJ - Many area organizations are holding donation drives to help Afghan refugees who recently arrived in New Jersey.
The first group of Afghan refugees arrived at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, federal officials announced last week. The joint base is one of four military bases in the United States that are providing temporary shelter to Afghans as part of Operation Allies Refuge, according to the Defense Department.

The Muslim Center Of Greater Princeton, based in West Windsor, is collecting donations to help Afghan refugees arriving at Fort Dix.
Donations needed include: Diapers Wipes Baby food Lotion Clothing Towels Modest clothing T-shirts Blankets Shoes Feminine hygiene supplies Donations can be dropped at the Center from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. before Labor Day Sept. 6.
