Description

Press release from the City of Ames: 08/30/2021 11:00 AM An isolated windstorm moved through the residential area near Emma McCarthy Lee Park and Munn Woods early Saturday morning leaving downed trees and scattering tree limbs. City of Ames crews have been working since Saturday morning to clear broken limbs from the park playground as well as clean up public trees in the area. City of Ames policy on storm damage requires a certain percentage of trees be damaged in identified zones to provide curbside service or open public storm debris drop sites. In this instance, the threshold was not reached. City crews will continue to remove tree limbs in neighborhoods from trees in the public right of way (typically the area between the street and sidewalk). The crews will not haul away other storm debris. Homeowners should contact private tree services or self-haul storm debris to the yard waste disposal sites: A list of licensed tree surgeons as well as the City policy on storm-damaged trees is available on the City's website at www.CityOfAmes.org/Trees This press release was produced by the City of Ames.
