OAKLAND, CA —A man in his 20s from San Leandro died Monday in the hospital from gunshot wounds he suffered Saturday in a shooting at an Oakland barbershop, Oakland police said. As of Tuesday, the victim's name had not been released pending the notification of the next of kin, SanFrancisco.CBSlocal.com reported. According to police, the shooting was carried out by two assailants and took place at around 5:50 p.m. Saturday inside the Extravagant Grooming Lounge, located in the 5200 block of College Avenue. Officers arrived to find the San Leandro man suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Police said the victim succumbed to his injuries just after 3 p.m. Monday, according to SanFrancisco.CBSlocal.com. A short time after police discovered the first victim of the shooting, a second victim arrived at a local hospital, police said. That victim was transported to a different local hospital and is listed in critical condition. Oakland police said they are looking for the persons responsible for the shooting. On Monday afternoon, Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong toured the site of that and another weekend shooting in the 1700 block of Telegraph Avenue. In a video posted on YouTube before the victim's death, Armstrong described the events that took place inside the Extravagant Grooming Lounge. "It happened inside of a barbershop, a very sacred place where people come to be taken care of," Armstrong said. "Unfortunately, two assailants came into this business and shot multiple rounds striking a man now in grave condition." KTVU.com reported that Armstrong plans to hold a news conference Thursday to address the department's plans to reduce violent crime in Oakland. The Oakland police also noted that anyone with information about the shooting can call the department's Homicide Unit at 510-238-3821 or the tip line at 510-238-7950.
