CHATHAM, NJ — Six Chatham Borough residents tested COVID-positive between Aug. 20 and 26, according to the borough's health officer. That makes a month-to-date total between Aug. 1 and 26 of 30 positive cases among borough residents. The announcement released by Chatham Borough on Tuesday, offers information about all cases during the month, year-to-date and since the start of the pandemic. Among the six new cases, the age range of the residents who tested positive are between three and 76 years. There are two residents who are under 11 and four above the age of 21. The mean age of residents who have tested positive overall in Chatham Borough is 36. Since the start of 2021, there have been 341 positive cases in Chatham Borough, for a running total of 586 since the pandemic's start in March of 2020. Since the arrival of coronavirus, there have been 13 total residents who were hospitalized and 10 with deaths attributed to COVID-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the case breakdown by age in Chatham Borough has been: No age - 5 cases1-11 - 41 cases12-19 - 126 cases20-30 - 97 cases31-40 - 59 cases41-50 - 105 cases51-60 - 95 cases61-70 - 27 cases71-80 - 19 cases81-90 - 7 cases91+ - 5 cases Tuesday's announcement from Chatham Borough reminded residents and business owners to mask up when necessary, wash their hands frequently, sanitize high-touch surfaces often in their homes and businesses and stay home when they don't feel well. At the Aug. 9 Council meeting, Mayor Thaddeus Kobylarz announced there were five new positive cases within the borough from Aug. 1 to Aug. 9. He said that 97 percent of borough residents over the age of 18 and 98 percent ages 65 and up, received their full course of COVID-19 vaccines, for a total of 76 percent of Chatham Borough's population. Mayor Stacey Ewald told the public at the Chatham Township Committee meeting on Aug. 12 that 88 percent of township residents 18 and older and 95 percent of residents 65 and older, were also fully vaccinated, for a total number of vaccinated residents in Chatham Township greater than 72 percent.
