New Hampshire State Police Investigating I-93 Canterbury Crash

CANTERBURY, NH — New Hampshire State Police are investigating a crash in Canterbury on Monday, on the southbound side of Interstate 93 near Exit 17. Around 8:15 p.m., state troopers were told about a black Nissan Pathfinder leaving the highway and crashing into trees in the area of Mile Marker 44.6. A number of Good Samaritans stopped to assist the driver, a man, who was unconscious and trapped inside. "(Troopers) began trying to extract the driver, shortly followed by the response of Concord Fire and EMS as well as Canterbury Fire and EMS," Staff Sgt. Megan Walsh of Troop D said. "Concord and Canterbury Fire extracted the operator and began administering medical aid. The operator was transported to Concord Hospital to be evaluated further." The identity of the driver is being withheld and the crash is still under investigation. No other vehicles were involved, she said. The right lane of the Interstate was closed for about three and half hours. "Initial investigations show the operator may have suffered a medical emergency while driving," Walsh said. Along with Canterbury and Concord firefighters and the Merrimack County Sheriff's Office also assisted with the incident.
