If you're staying in town for Labor Day Weekend, Lemont is hosting its 69th Keepataw Day Parade this Sunday, September 5th at 2 pm, and after the parade, downtown Lemont businesses will be open so that the holiday weekend festivities can continue. The Lemont Lions Club is partnering with Lemont VFW Post 5819 to host the band Mike and Mike, an acoustic duo who will play music from the 1960s and 1970s, from 5 to 9 pm at the VFW's location at 15780 New Avenue in Lemont following the parade. Free will donations will be accepted to benefit the Lemont area's humanitarian efforts. A cash bar will also be available. Additionally, the following downtown establishments will be open for dining, spirits, and shopping: 1 Happy Girl (until 3 pm), Barrel and Vine, Bella Interiors, B-Side Records, Bottles, BTB Wines, Canal Street Pub, Digs on Canal, H&H Restaurant, Hughie McClafferty's, Jilley's Boutique (until 3 pm) La Dolce Vita, Lemont Valley Market, Mabel's Market (until 3 pm), Next Mex, Nick's Tavern, One Eleven Wine Bar and Martini Parlour, Peterson's Main Inn, Pollyanna Brewing Company, Smokey Row Antiques, The Creamery, The Forge: Lemont Quarries, Three Stories Books (until 3 pm), Tom's Place, Turnabout Pizza, and Wooden Paddle. The parade will begin at Main Street and Lemont Street, proceed down Main Street, and make a right at Turnabout up to Illinois Street. The parade will continue down Illinois Street and finish at the corner of Illinois Street and Lemont Street. Don't forget to bring your nonperishable food and toiletry donations to the parade because Bethany Lutheran Church and Theo J. Gorski & Son are collaborating to "Fill the Food Bus" as in past parades with donations for the Lemont Food Pantries. Parade sponsors include The Village of Lemont and Lemont Township (Platinum Level), Fifth Third Bank, Lemont Park District, St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School (Gold), Digs on Canal, Motion Inspired Photography (Silver), Corner Stone Tavern, Fit 4 Mom, Kim Arias Design, Kim and Co.
