Loaded Gun, Cocaine Seized During Joliet Traffic Stop: Police

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police arrested a 30-year-old city resident and a 31-year-old man from University Park in charges of with gun and cocaine charges following a traffic stop Monday night in downtown Joliet. Tommie Crockwell of Joliet was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of controlled substances, possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of a ammunition and having No FOID. Crockwell's passenger, Ambrose Foy, was booked into the jail on charges of possessing controlled substances. Joliet police pulled over Crockwell's car around 8:30 p.m. near North Joliet and Cass Streets. "Officers observed an open alcohol container and detected an odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle's interior," police announced. "Upon a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a loaded 10mm handgun from the glove box as well as cocaine and cannabis from a bag in the vehicle." Joliet police said that officers recovered crack cocaine from Foy after a search. Crockwell lives in the apartment units in the 400 block of Western Avenue, jail logs show.
