COBB COUNTY, GA — Substitute teachers in the Cobb County School District will soon be eligible for a temporary boost in pay, the district announced Tuesday.
Effective Sept. 6, substitute teachers, supply teachers, substitute nurses and supply nurses in the district will be eligible for pay increases through May 2022. The increase will reflect in the employees' Oct. 29 paycheck. The raise is possible due to Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding, the district said.
"Whether they are part-time, temporary, or full time, every team member can change a student's life," Chief Human Resources Officer Keeli Bowen said.
The daily rate for substitute teachers in Cobb Schools will increase to $189 temporarily, while the rate for supply teachers increases to $212 temporarily. Both substitute and supply nurses will also see a temporary hourly rate increase by $4 per hour.
Anyone interested in applying can do so online here.
Superintendent Chris Ragsdale also recently announced a $1,200 retention bonus for all bus drivers and bus monitors employed with the district by Sept. 24, payable in the December payroll.
