Storm Contractors
Jobs
Daufuskie Island SC
Description
We are looking to add several disaster response contractor teams, who can travel on short notice, sometimes same day, to hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, or winter ice storms. We are expecting a highly active Hurricane Season. There are many scenarios where wide scale power outages can develop. Hurricanes and Derechos can pop in a matter of days with limited warning. In addition, we acquired additional business at the outbreak of Covid, running base camps for various support companies and multiple month generator deployments for first responder networks. You never know when new work opportunities will pop up. We have many roles to fill. (See below for description) Gen Tech Team (individual) Disaster Support Staff (individual) Damage Assessment Crews (2 people) GEN TECH TEAM: Tow trailer mounted generator to communication tower, hook them up, and bring the tower back to life. After generators are deployed, we maintain, refuel, and recover them once power is restored to the area. You will be working with many other contractor teams in a very positive, friendly and rewarding work environment from centrally located bases set up in or near disaster areas. If this sounds exciting to you, our primary requirements are a ¾ ton or heavier 4X4 pick-up truck (F250 or 2500 or bigger) and basic knowledge of single phase 240 electricity (electrical contractors preferred) Min 18 years old with valid driver license Smartphone with internet, text, and camera Ability to deploy with short notice DISASTER SUPPORT STAFF: To support and maintain our base of operations. This includes, but is not limited to, maintenance work, flaggers, catering, base operations, security, refueling, and many other needs. Let us know if you have any special skills that could contribute. We also need people who want to get certified as covid foggers, to safely treat and disinfect base camps, with organic chemical to ensure a healthy work environment. We are functionally running a small town for several weeks or months for the client and need to keep it running efficiently and effectively to achieve the mission. No truck required; you just need a reliable vehicle to get to work Min 18 years old with valid driver's license Ability to deploy with short notice DAMAGE ASSESSMENT: The main purpose of a damage assessment crew is to properly identify the above ground power component issue and request the necessary personnel and equipment to fix the job in one shot. You need to be able to identify, for example, that the site requires a clearing crew (tree on the line), a new power pole, fiber repair, and a new transformer. Familiarity with all above ground power components is required. We need candidates to be Damage Assessment Team Leaders. The ideal candidates will have experience with electric distribution networks, for example, having previously worked as a lineman or for a power utility company. A candidate who was never a lineman but has extensive electrical experience and understands the above ground power components will be considered. If you are approved to be a Damage Assessment Team Leader, you will have the opportunity to build your own team. We will give our recruiters the green light to help find qualified people to fill out your team as well. If you have the necessary experience but do not want to be a team lead, we will work to place you on a team that is a good fit for your work style. *If you are interested in just recruiting or have someone you want to refer, there are referral bonuses for you. Most all our contracts pay a passive residual for every labor hour, ongoing, for all crews you recruit!! There is a set up process and a list of items you are required to have to deploy with. Instructions will be sent to you in a follow up email. Multiple teams, trucks or companies can be set up.
