Also-Known-As 25th Anniversary Weekend: Celebrating the Global Adoptee Community | September 17 - 19, 2021 This year marks the Also-Known-As 25th anniversary, and in recognition of this milestone occasion, we are hosting the 25th Anniversary Weekend: Celebrating the Global Adoptee Community, from September 17 - 19, 2021. The theme, “Celebrating the Global Adoptee Community,” recognizes that our community spans beyond the local tri-state area, spanning many countries of origin and destination. We have lined up several events for us to gather together in celebration and discussion. DEADLINE - Buy your ticket by Sunday August 22 in order to guarantee that we can order you a shirt of your correct size! After the 22nd, you will still get a shirt, but cannot guarantee the size. Not a member yet? Join us, save $25 on your ticket plus more savings at our holiday party and future events, and unite with us in our cause! This beautiful venue offers magnificent skyline views in the heart of Manhattan. Step outside when you want to feel the city ambiance, or enjoy the scenery while relaxing inside by candle light. And check out the flower tunnel! Be sure to be on time when the event starts at 7pm to enjoy free drinks and delicious hors d'oeuvres, available until they last! Catch up with friends you haven't seen in over a year. This is an event you don’t want to miss! Dress attire: dressy-casual / business casual or whatever your heart desires. Bystander Intervention: Building Safer Communities at KAAGNY This interactive workshop will equip you with the practical skills you need to safely intervene and be an upstander in your community. Rana Abdelhamid, Malikah's Founder, will go through boundary setting, situational awareness, methods of intervening, and allyship. This workshop centers an abolitionist framework, and acknowledges that we can work in a trauma-informed and culturally aware way to build safety for our communities. Facilitator: Rana Abdelhamid is committed to organizing communities around migrant, gender and racial justice. For ten years, Abdelhamid has served as the Executive Director of Malikah, a global grassroots movement committed to building safety and power for all women through self-defense, healing justice, community organizing and financial literacy. She founded Malikah at the age of 16 after being attacked by a stranger, who tried to remove the hijab from her head. Today, Abdelhamid and her volunteer team of women conduct healing spaces and have trained more than 7,000 women in 18 cities across the globe.  Where: KAAGNY, 149 West 24th Street, 6th Floor, New York, NY When: Saturday, September 18, 2021, 2 - 4 pm Included in the 25th Anniversary Weekend ticket. Social Happy Hour at Tap Haus 33 Join us at Tap Haus 33 for a laid back social event on Saturday (late afternoon to early evening) before heading to your favorite place for dinner (there are some great places in Ktown, right down the street)! You haven't experienced a bar like this, with 40 pour-yourself beers on taps! We’ve reserved tables in the back for registered participants, and we’ll provide some appetizers, as well as a Tap Haus 33 card for a free beer or two at the draft beer stations! Not a beer drinker?
