Description

Texas Black Homecoming presents Freshman XXL: Black UT Mixtape, a week dedicated to black longhorns past, present and future. For over half a century, Black students at the University of Texas at Austin have been trailblazers in academia, sports and have served as a representation of the diverse student body here on the Forty Acres. The annual Black Homecoming has further served the UT-Austin community by showcasing Black art and culture, demonstrating unity across generations, and providing networking opportunities for current Black students and alumni. This year’s events are tentatively scheduled for the week of Sunday, September 19th through Saturday, September 25th. The University recruits top talent from all over the nation and abroad so these students have the potential to be great leaders and trailblazers themselves in the future. Black Homecoming serves as an important opportunity for these incredible students to form a community and family, based on our shared culture as fellow Longhorns, past and present. Due to the stress of the pandemic, we believe this year’s homecoming will allow these students and alumni to reconnect and network while being in a safe, stress-free environment and removing them from the chaos of their everyday lives. This year, we strive to honor the tradition of excellence fostered by the University, because what starts here, changes the world.
