Description Position Overview: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Engineering, the Mechanic is to perform maintenance and repairs to all equipment within their specialty qualification Major Duties & Responsibilities: Attend to guest requests, inquiries and complaints and refers unresolved issues to supervisor or Manager on Duty in a timely manner. Perform preventive/predictable maintenance and necessary repairs on all hotel equipment with minimum down time, including, laundry, boiler, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, meeting rooms and guest rooms. Maintain the information in a shop log or document the assignment through the work order system. Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. Performs minor and routine plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools and power tools to ensure smooth operations of HVAC, refrigeration, natural gas. Installs and replaces lighting fixtures and bulbs. Maintain shop areas, spare parts areas, storage areas and inventories of materials, equipment and associated parts of the trade. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operations variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine. Installs and repairs electrical wiring and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Respond to all emergency situations including fire alarms, disasters, power failures, etc. and assist as needed. Ensure that services are coordinated to provide the best in guest satisfaction by maintaining contact via telephone or radio with other departments such as Mission Control and Cabin Crew. Assists in delivering and set-up of all new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc. Assist in maintaining, repairing, and installing the building's heating, ventilation, air conditioning and associated controls and piping, and other building mechanical equipment such as steam generators, heat exchangers, pumps, cooling towers, etc. Assist in requests for service adjustments and other trouble calls. Perform preventive maintenance, equipment lubrication, and daily inspection in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance Program. Institute corrective action and/or inform supervisor of any deficiencies found while performing preventive maintenance. Operate job-related equipment. Perform other related work as required. Observe all safety practices, procedures, and directives. Be proficient in the use of the tools of the trade. Notify management concerning need for major repairs and report out-of-the ordinary issues and unsafe conditions immediately. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer and the General Manager. Strong detail orientation: ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines. Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to problem solve without direct supervision. Proven ability to work effectively in an unstructured, fast paced and constantly changing environment Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) Reads and understands MEP blueprints, wiring diagrams Skills/Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Technical school, trade school graduate or equivalent required. HVAC license. Must obtain within one year and maintain a CFC refrigerant handling license type one or better. Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions in the language of the workplace. A willingness to work rotational shift if necessary, including days, evenings, and nights, as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays, as required.
