A concert to benefit Afghan women and children will be held on October 16, 2021 at the Eagles #34 Club in the Mattson Ballroom at 6P. Photo Credit: Altaf Qadri Headlining the concert will be local heroes The Mighty Mofos featuring the inimitable Batson brothers. Kinda Kinky, the beloved Kinks cover band appear third on the bill. The debut performance of a new supergroup, Les Detachables, consisting of the women who rocked the Twin Cities (and beyond) in the 80's and 90's plays second. This band features members of Tetes Noires, The Blue Up?, The Clams, Zuzu's Petals, Speed of Rain, Polara, Muskellunge, The Short Fuses, Trailer Park Queen and Lisa Wooster (with more to be confirmed). Featured musicians in Les Detachables are Jenny Case (She Rock She Rock, Flamin Oh’s). Barb Brynstad (Turn, Turn, Turn, Willie Murphy, Speed of Rain), and Renee Bracchi (Kinda Fonda Wanda, Felonious Bosch, The Blue Up?). Opening the evening will be event organizer and musician Cindy Lawson (Curtiss A Lennon Tribute, Whoops Kitty, The Clams ), returning to the stage with her own new band after a twenty-five year absence. All proceeds of the concert will go to the International Institute of Minnesota, an organization that provides services and resources to support Afghan refugees. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations will be required for admittance to event.
