Kevin Caira Endorses Judy O'Connell In Wilmington Selectman Race

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Selectman Kevin Caira endorsed Judy O'Connell, who is running for the Board of Selectmen in a special Sep. 2 election. "She is a good listener and she will work tirelessly to resolve issues important to our residents," Caira wrote in an Aug. 29 letter published in the Wilmington Apple. "She is a dedicated, hard-working individual who cares deeply for our community. She has and will continue to advocate in the best interest of Wilmington." Caira cited O'Connell's experience as a member of the Wilmington School Committee, where she served as Vice Chair, and her two terms on the Board of Selectmen, where she was twice elected Chair. He also pointed to work with the Yentile Farm Recreational project, writing, "Her leadership skills were clearly evident as this widely acclaimed recreational center was constructed on time and under-budget." Wilmington graduated from Wilmington High School in 1991, and has worked for Hewlett Packard, Methuen Public Schools, and for the past 14 years as a realtor, according to the Wilmington Town Crier. On Aug. 19, O'Connell spoke at a Selectmen forum hosted by WCTV, where she answered resident questions. Candidate Mark Nelson was not able to attend. O'Connell said she would support a renewal of Town Manager Jeff Hall's contract, that she supports building both a new Senior Center and Town Hall building, and said she would work to improve virtual communications with residents, hope local businesses recover from the pandemic, and keep up with affordable housing. The election will take place on Thursday, Sep. 2.
