Wakefield Sons and Daughters of Italy Host Scholarship Recipients

Wakefield Sons & Daughters of Italy members were treated to a southern barbeque including chicken, ribs, slaw, cornbread, and watermelon. Thanks again to Laurie Rizzo of Laurie's 909 for grilling some wonderful meats. The members supplied side dishes and desserts once again, and no one left hungry. There was a table of special guests for this meeting. We were able to meet the 2021 scholarship recipients Benjamin Larsen and Nicolas Lucarini and their families. For the first time that anyone can remember, the scholarship winners are both children of previous Sons & Daughters of Italy recipients! What are the odds of that? Both have decided to attend Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York. The odds just increased. But there is one more thing they have in common – their mothers are sisters! We wish these cousins well in their educational and life pursuits. The Annual Charity Auction scheduled for Thursday October 28, 2021, was further planned. It was decided that the event will begin at 6:00 p.m. with crackers and cheese, dinner from Harrow's Chicken Pie at 6:30, followed by a 'blind' auction. Members will be donating wrapped articles for guests to bid on. One never knows what they will get while raising funds for future scholarships and other causes. Donations from generous local businesses are coming in also. Tickets are $10 each and include the dinner and beverage. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 14th but this time will not include dinner.
