Description
The GI-BMPs are a science-based educational program for lawn & landscape professionals. Pre-requisite for the fertilizer certification. This training will be held in-person. The GI-BMPs are a science-based educational program for Green Industry workers (lawn-care and landscape maintenance professionals), brought to you by UF/IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscaping(TM) program. The GI-BMPs teach environmentally safe landscaping practices that help conserve and protect Florida's ground and surface waters. Florida law states that all commercial fertilizer applicators must have a certificate from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) (s. 482.1562, F.S.). To get this certificate, each commercial applicator must be trained in the GI-BMPs and receive a certificate of completion from UF/IFAS and FDEP. Lunch will not be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch, however, there are nearby fast-food options. The GI-BMP training is valid for 2 Core CEUs and 2 additional CEUs for the following licenses: Private Applicator - AgricultureOrnamental & Turf Limited Lawn & Ornamental Limited Landscape Maintenance Commercial Lawn and Ornamental Limited Urban Fertilizer Schedule 8:15 am - 9:00 am Introduction and Pre-test 9:00 am - 9:50 am Overview - Green Industries BMPs for Protection of Water Resources 9:50 am - 10:00 am Break 10:00 am - 11:20 am Lawn and Landscape Cultural Practices and BMPs 11:20 am - 11:30 am Break 11:30 am - 12:20 pm Irrigation BMPs 12:20 pm - 12:55 pm Lunch 12:55 pm - 1:45 pm Fertilizer BMPs 1:45 pm - 1:55 pm Break 1:55 - 2:45 Pesticide BMPs 2:45 - 3:00 Review 3:00 - 3:30 Post-Test, Evaluation and CEUs ***Cancellation Policy***: Programs, workshops, and events are subject to cancellation if a minimum number of attendees are not registered. Cancellations will be posted on Eventbrite and an email will be sent to registrants. The UF/IFAS Ext.
