ENGLEWOOD, FL — A waterfront restaurant and bar near Manasota Key shut its doors Saturday because of the presence of red tide in the area.
The Beach Road Wine Bar & Bistro in Englewood announced its temporary closure on Facebook and said it plans to reopen Wednesday.
"We had to make the hard decision to close for the remainder of the weekend," the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page.
It also shared a picture of a "Red Tide Notice" displayed in one of the restaurant's windows.
The water at Englewood Beach was clear with no drift algae, dead fish, beach debris or respiratory irritation noted Monday morning, according to Mote Marine Laboratory's Beach Reporting System.
