Peekskill Man Dies In Palisades Parkway Crash

STONY POINT, NY — A 2-car crash before dawn Sunday killed a 29-year-old Peekskill man, New York State police said. State police from the Haverstraw and Monroe barracks responded to the crash at 4:50 a.m. on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Stony Point. They said their initial investigation showed that a northbound Honda Civic, operated by Raul B. Ortunouzha, failed to negotiate a bend in the roadway, instead crossing over the median into southbound traffic and hitting a 2020 Mercedes Benz head-on. Ortunouzha was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the Mercedes Benz suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
