TOKYO, JAPAN — Garden City's Anastasia Pagonis, a swimmer competing in the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo, has taken home her second medal in the competition. Last week, 17-year-old Pagonis took home the gold in the women's 400-meter freestyle swim, and set a new world record in the process. On Monday night in Tokyo, she earned bronze in women's 200m individual medley - SM11, with a time of 2:45.61. She finished just 3.47 seconds behind the first-place finisher, China's Jia Ma. Pagonis is blind, and started losing her sight when she was 11. She completely lost her sight at 14. Soon after, she found swimming and fell in love with it. Now, the 17-year-old is a holds two Olympic medals and is an inspiration for people all over the country. Another medal for Anastasia Pagonis!
