Through his passion and leadership, CATTA has garnered numerous acknowledgments and awards for its work teaching boys how to confront and conquer their negative emotions with composure, introspectively. Wilson is the author of Cry Like a Man and the forthcoming book, Battle Cry. ABOUT THE HOSTSKendra R. McNeil is the owner and curator of We Are LIT Multicultural Bookshop. Her work focuses on creating a culture around books and developing programs for long-term, community-based literacy and reading initiatives. She is Chief Operating Officer and Grand Rapids Neighborhood Match Fund project leader for The Black Book Exchange Box, a nonprofit organization and book exchange system dedicated to the thoughtful representation of Black people in art, culture, and literature. James Peacock III is the founder of Grand Rapids Community Work, a nonprofit organization that collaborates with businesses, organizations, and community stakeholders to connect underserved residents to community resources. James’ passion and purpose are driven by his experiences as a youth in Grand Rapids and has inspired initiatives such as the Neighborhood Food Garden, MLK Community Garden, backpack drives, STEM-related opportunities, monthly community breakfasts, and other events.
