Intercultural Diversity Center will host a hybrid screening of "Paris is Burning" on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 7pm in person & on Zoom. The Intercultural Diversity Center will continue its Fall 2021 Social Justice Movie Series featuring Paris is Burning. Paris Is Burning is a 1990 American documentary film Made in the mid-to-late 1980s, it chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the African-American, Latino, gay, and transgender communities involved in it. This landmark documentary provides offers an intimate portrait of rival fashion "houses," from fierce contests for trophies to house mothers offering sustenance in a world rampant with homophobia, transphobia and racism. Featuring legendary voguers, drag queens, and trans women--including Willi Ninja, Pepper LaBeija, Dorian Corey, and Venus Xtravaganza. This screening will take place on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 7pm in the Intercultural Diversity Center (Ferguson 2100).
