BRAINTREE, MA — Two Braintree police officers received the department's life-saving medal after rescuing a man who had no pulse and wasn't breathing. On June 10, Officers Mark Gibbons and Christopher Dominguez were finishing up a mental health call at the Lenox Farms apartment complex on Liberty Street. While leaving, police said the officers heard screams, so they grabbed their medical gear and sprang into the action. The officers found a man without a pulse who wasn't breathing. So Gibbons and Dominguez immediately called for help and started CPR. The officers then attached AED pads, and with the help of two other officers, administered shocks to the man, which woke him up and brought the color back to his face. Police said the man also began breathing on his own again. An ambulance arriver shortly after and took the man to the hospital. "The Braintree Fire and Brewster Ambulance personnel on scene told Sergeant Arki if it wasn't for the actions of Officers Dominguez and Gibbons, Mr. Coleman's chances of survival would have been severely diminished," Braintree police said in a statement. "In the opinion of this department, Officers Gibbons and Dominguez saved Mr. Coleman's life and are hereby awarded the Braintree Police Department's Lifesaving Medal."
