Description

Join Middletown Borough's Human Relations Commission and Chronically Strong in a FREE community rock painting even in Middletown! As our community is returning to work, school and extracurricular activities following the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to ensure that we make mental wellness a priority! Join Middletown Borough's Human Relations Commission and Chronically Strong in a FREE community rock painting event at the Middletown Community Service building at 60 W Emaus St in Middletown, PA! This is a family friendly event to come together as a community to paint rocks of hope and learn about local resources that can help you and your family maintain mental wellness. While you paint messages of hope on your rocks, you will hear messages from Middletown Area School District, Middletown Area Recreation Alliance and Chronically Strong. We will talk about mental wellness as it relates to students and families of the school district, the role that physical activity plays in mental health, and local nonprofit efforts to create supports for families that have a loved one diagnosed with a mental illness. The idea is take a rock. Give a rock. Leave a rock. This helps us to create a #chainofhope. These rocks will then be placed strategically throughout the community by joint effort of the Middletown Human Relations Commission and Chronically Strong in hopes of encouraging the person who finds it. On the back of each rock we will have a link to our site where local mental health resources can be found. There are TWO WAYS to participate in this event: 1) In Person: We invite you to come together as a community to paint these rocks together. We encourage you to either bring your own supplies or come as you are and utilize our supplies on hand. Paint, brushes, etc will be provided. 2) Drop Off: Want to participate but aren't able to make the event? Paint a couple of rocks at home and bring to the Middletown Borough Office at 60 W Emaus St Middletown, PA. Make sure to leave the back of the rock unpainted AND do not seal rock with anything as we will place our contact info on the back and seal the rock on your behalf. Come out and enjoy an afternoon of fun, learning, light refreshments, and encouraging conversation! This community helps both the loved ones and the individual coping with mental illness to grow #strongereveryday.
