3 Charged In New London Shooting

NEW LONDON, CT — Three men were charged over the weekend in connection with a shooting in February, according to police. Police received the call Feb. 17 at 6:22 p.m. for shots fired and an injured person in the roadway near Grand and Elm streets. Police arrived and found a 17-year-old male, who was declared deceased by paramedics. A police investigation resulted in the arrests of three men. Franc Gjergjaj, 20, of 301 Chesterfield Road in East Lyme, was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, and interfering with an officer. He posted $35,000 bond and will appear in court Oct. 12. Mark Mann, 20, of 262 Broad St. in New London, was charged with first-degree criminal attempt of robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit assault, first-degree accessory to assault, tampering with evidence, violation of a protection order, and carrying a pistol without a permit. His bond was set at $160,000 bond and he will appear in court Aug. 30. Justice Rodriguez, 24, of 69 Rosemary St., apt. 1, in New London, was charged with first-degree criminal attempt of robbery, first-degree criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit assault, and first-degree accessory to assault. His bond was set at $150,000 and he will appear in court Aug. 30.
