MERCER COUNTY, NJ - Hundreds of spectators gathered in Trenton on Sunday to welcome Trenton native and Olympian Athing Mu during a parade in her honor.
This is Mu's first visit home after winning two gold medals in the Tokyo Olympics. After the Olympics, Mu went directly to Texas A&M University where she is a college freshman.
Gov. Phil Murphy, Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora and other officials were present to celebrate and welcome Mu, the 19-year-old track sensation. Hundreds of people lined the streets to show their support for Mu.
Mu won the Olympic Gold medal in the women's 800-meter and followed that up with a second Olympic gold medal in the 4x400-meter women's team relay.
