Description
Press release from the School City of Hammond: August 30, 2021 School City of Hammond continues to take our students and staff's safety, security, and concerns seriously. During the next two weeks, SCH has designated the below asynchronous e-learning days per grade level. The below applies to middle and high school only. All elementary schools will remain in-person, and there is no change to the elementary daily schedule. Staggering student attendance at each secondary building provides counselors with the opportunity to address scheduling concerns, time for main offices to print/distribute IDs, and allows for security training at all facilities. Middle Schools SCH middle schools will stay on asynchronous e-learning tomorrow (8/31) and Wednesday (9/1). Starting Thursday, middle school students will follow this schedule: Starting the week of September 6, all middle school students will return to in-person learning. High Schools SCH high schools will stay on asynchronous e-learning for the remainder of the week. Starting the week of September 6, high school students will follow this schedule: Classes will resume in-person across the district on Monday, September 13. Middle and high school students should log on to Google Classroom by 9 a.m. for their assignments. Students not yet assigned a Chromebook will get additional time to complete all assignments. The Area Career Center is open throughout the week as scheduled for both SCH and out-of-district students. Transportation will be available starting Wednesday, September 1. Extra-curricular activities will continue as scheduled for this and next week. Breakfast and lunch will be served to all students in school, but curbside meal pickup is available to middle and high school students on Wednesday, September 1, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Edison Elementary School. Curbside meals will include three breakfasts and three lunches. Students seeking social or emotional support should contact their school counselor. Staff seeking social or emotional support should contact their building administrator about the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
