SANTA MONICA, CA — Authorities Monday are investigating a possible sinkhole in Santa Monica, near Brentwood.
The sinkhole was reported before 8:30 a.m. Monday near the area of 26th and Baltic streets, the Los Angeles Police Department West Los Angeles station announced via Twitter.
The areas near Alta Avenue and 26th Street, 25th Street and Marguerita Avenue, and Carlyle Avenue and 26th Street were also closed.
Water and power were shut off in the neighborhood while Santa Monica police and fire departments respond.
Officials asked people to avoid the area.
