CHATHAM, NJ — The Chatham Food Truck Festival, benefitting the Cultural Committee of the Chathams this past Saturday at Chatham's Middle School, was given a number of positive shout-outs, from being called "a hit," to its attendees an "incredibly fun crowd." The cloudy skies didn't dim the spirits of the event-goers who came out for 15 food trucks, two lives bands and games for kids, including the Extreme Party Racing Grand Prix and bounce house. There were even doggie delicacies for canines attending, with the "Doggie Sweets" truck there with treats for pups that walked their humans through the festival. There was fun for the adult attendees, including hatchet throwing, cigars to purchase and enjoy, shopping with vendors of different types and even chances to get a psychic reading. The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Lyft was in town, with Hot Dogger "Chili Cheese Caroline" piloting it, who had "rolled" into the Northern New Jersey area previously in early July. The stop to the food truck festival was one of several while the Wienermobile was back in the area. Howard Rosenblatt who is chief entertainment officer/owner of Mega Bites Events, the festival's organizer, announced the Wienermobile's planned stop at the festival on his Facebook Page. While Chili Cheese Caroline was in Chatham, she was captured on video handing out the iconic "Wiener Whistles" that Oscar Mayer Hot Doggers give away at places they stop. Chatham Borough Council President Carolyn Dempsey and Councilwoman Jocelyn Mathiasen called the event "a hit," having walked through it together and posted photos of their experience. Dempsey is one of the founding members of the Cultural Committee of the Chathams, having been a part of the first Food Truck Festival in 2019. "I certainly enjoyed attending and I love that it has become a tradition in Chatham," Dempsey told Patch on Monday. Guy Smiley, one of the event's live entertainers, called it an "awesome time" and thanked the "incredibly fun crowd" for singalongs and "bootyshaking," as well as the event's other performer, Naughty Humphrey.
