First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 89 Low: 54. Here are the top stories in Sacramento today: Most of us have probably traveled up 50 to go to Tahoe at some time in our lives here in Sacramento, and many of us do it several times a year. As you know, a stretch of 50 is closed due to the Caldor Fire. It looks like the fire may crest the summit. All of South Lake Tahoe has been ordered to evacuate. More than 20,000 structures are threatened. Barton Memorial Hospital was also evacuated Sunday, South Lake Tahoe police confirmed. With 50 and 88 now closed, I-80 remains the only open westbound evacuation route for South Tahoe residents. (KCRA3)Parkview Presbyterian Church, one of the oldest Japanese-American churches in the Sacramento area, was vandalized Sunday night. Police responded to what was believed to be a burglary at the church. When they arrived, the didn't find evidence of theft, but they did find a smashed sign and other vandalization. Police are looking for a motive. They are not yet calling this a hate crime. (CBS Sacramento)The city of Citrus Heights continues to solicit community feedback on the Sunrise Tomorrow Specific Plan. The plan seeks to redevelop the 100-acre Sunrise Mall site. Those looking for even more information about the Sunrise Tomorrow Specific Plan and EIR are invited to attend the City's virtual Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, Sep. 1 at 6 p.m. (Citrusheights.net)Remember Vida Blue? How about Jim Plunkett? They were big sports names back in the day and both were part of the Phil Oats Celebrity Golf Tournament on Monday benefiting local Sacramento charities. The charities selected for this inaugural event place special emphasis on disadvantaged youth. Watch Vida charm the folks at the tournament in this video. (Good Day Sacramento)Sacramento Fire Department personnel came to the rescue of two boaters on the American River Sunday evening, around 7 p.m. when their boat caught fire. One of the boaters was unable to swim due to a recent surgery. Thankfully, both boaters were brought to safety.
