ORLAND PARK, IL — Two men were charged with commercial burglary, after Athlete's Foot retail store located in Orland Square Mall was burglarized two nights in a row, according to the Orland Park Police Department.
Police said an investigation revealed that on Tuesday, two men had entered the store through the back door while it was closed. The men took shoes and clothing, then fled. On Wednesday, two men came to the store after hours, taking merchandise before fleeing, according to police.
Police said one of the men was identified as the same individual who burglarized the store the night prior. The total value of merchandise taken was approximately $3,500, according to police. An investigation lead to police identifying suspects Jordan Hurd, 21, of Country Club Hills, and Martin Rivers, 20, of Hazel Crest. Both Hurd and Rivers are employees of another adjacent business which utilizes storage in the area of Athlete's Foot.
Both men were arrested on Friday— Rivers at his home, and Hurd from his job. Approximately $1000 in stolen merchandise was recovered, police said. Rivers was charged with two counts of commercial burglary and Hurd was charged with one count of commercial burglary, according to police.
On Saturday, Rivers and Hurd were transported to 2600 California with bond being set for $10,000 for Rivers and $15,000 for Hurd, police said.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
