PITTSBURGH, PA — To mask, or not to mask? That is the question facing school districts as classes resume for the 2021-22, and it's one that's been particularly nettlesome in the North Allegheny district.
Consider: District administrators earlier this month adopted a policy mandating masks for those in school buildings. School directors promptly reversed the policy and made masks optional. A group of parents and students went to court and got a judge to issue an order temporarily reinstating the mask mandate.
School directors were set to address the topic once more at a public meeting on Wednesday. But a group of dissident pro-optional parents who were there to protest the mask mandate forced the board to hastily adjourn the meeting because - get ready for it - they were not wearing masks as the judge's order had required.
What a mess.
