No One Injured In House Fire On McCarthy Street: Fire District

LEMONT, IL — A house fire was reported early Sunday in the 700 block of McCarthy Street in Lemont, according to the Lemont Fire Protection District. Firefighters responded to a single-story home with a fire in the basement at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, the fire district said. Crews were able to contain the fire to the area of origin in the basement with an "aggressive interior fire attack," the fire district said. The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes, but crews remained on the scene for two more hours for overhaul, according to the fire district. No residents or firefighters were injured, the fire district said. Lemont Fire Protection District personnel fought the fire with assistance from five surrounding fire agencies.
