What's the breakdown on the 116,000? How many fighting age men and how many women, children, and elderly?
Even if it was close to even numbers, if the Afghan military rolled over that fast the ending was inevitable. Probably better that it happened quickly instead of 20 more years of bloodshed.
Could easily be another Pol Pot situation where a lot of the people get killed or sent to work camps but look at Viet Nam today so who knows how long the bad situation will last.
