LOS ANGELES, CA — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed on Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday. But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should know that a fourth California marine was identified among the 13 U.S. service members killed in a suicide bombing at an airport in Afghanistan on Thursday. Those who died ranged in age from 20 to 31, and came from the Golden State, Massachusetts and states in between. Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered flags at all state buildings to be flown at half-staff in honor of all the soldiers. "Our heroic troops gave their lives to protect others amid harrowing and dangerous conditions, and we will never forget their bravery and selfless sacrifice in service to our nation," Newsom said in a statement over the weekend. Smoke hung over parts of San Diego and Orange County amid a massive fire that ignited Saturday near Murrieta in Riverside County. The fire exploded to 1,425 acres in less than 24 hours and was just 10 percent contained by Sunday afternoon. Dubbed the "Chaparral Fire," the blaze was burning along the border of San Diego and Riverside counties, spreading quickly through the Cleveland National Forest.
