Skilled Laborer/Carpenter Helper (Anchorage) $500 SIGN ON BONUS!!! Alaskan family-owned Construction/Restoration Company serving the community for 49 years, is currently seeking Anchorage based Skilled Laborer / Carpenter Helper. What we do We are a construction/restoration company that restores homes & commercial properties after disasters such as fire, wind, earthquake and water and mold damage. We also do home improvement, residential and commercial remodels, additions and many other services. We occasionally work in rural locations in Alaska as needed. We offer emergency services 24 hours per day. Our employees work on a rotation schedule for after hours. Duties and Responsibilities • Perform disaster restoration on residential and commercial buildings. Multiple phases of construction including, demolition, framing, finish, window & door installation, flooring, drywall and paint. • Procurement of construction materials needed for the job when expeditor unavailable. • Clean up daily and at the end of the job to ensure safety and customer satisfaction. • Work on call rotation for after hour emergencies. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Requirements • Must reside in Anchorage due to on-call rotation. Participation in on-call rotation is required. • 1+ years of hands on experience with residential/commercial construction. Looking for applicants that have a variety of experience and/or willing to learn. This will include: demolition, framing, finish, window & door installation, flooring, drywall and paint. Experience working with fire & water restoration is helpful. There is a lot of growth of knowledge in this position. • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Carpenters, Production Manager & Project Managers. • Must be safety focused. We provide all safety gear and all employees are required to use it. • Ability to work well with the public as well as independently. • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads often. 75+ pounds • Must provide own tools (start with basic hand tools and willing to purchase more as skills are gained) • Must have insured vehicle available to use for work (proof of insurance coverage to be maintained with the office) • Current driver license with no more than 3 driving infractions in the last 3 years. • Must pass post offer drug screen (heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine) • Must pass post-offer background screening. Due to insurance requirements, candidates with felony convictions will not be considered. Any other convictions will need to be discussed with Human Resource Director for contract compliance.
