DETROIT—The Detroit Lions cut wide receiver Breshad Perriman from the team on Monday, according to a tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter. First of many cuts this week is a notable one: Lions have released WR Breshad Perriman, per source.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 30, 2021 Perriman, a former first-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2015, signed a one-year deal with the Lions in March as a top free-agent addition. He was a projected starter after the Lions decided not to draft any wide receivers. However, in addition to battling a hip injury, he had a disappointing preseason, where he only caught one pass for six yards, and had two drops in their recent game against the Colts. The cut is first of many for the Lions, as NFL teams have to until 4 p.m. Tuesday to cut their rosters down to 53.
