Cameron was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responded to the shooting call shortly before midnight to the 400 block of 30th Place at University Manor.
VCU Commander Captain Jack Kennedy said warrants were obtained on a second suspect, Calvin Woods Jr., 19, and he was taken into custody Sunday night by investigators. The day following the fatal shooting, Patch reported that the first suspect arrested, Tobias Nickerson, 23, was interviewed and charged with murder and attempted Murder. He has since been released after his bond was set at $210,000.
Woods was also charged with murder and attempted murder, with his bond set at $210,000. Kennedy said Woods' current charges are also in addition to several other outstanding Circuit Court writs for previous cases of shooting into an unoccupied building. He was denied bond on those charges unrelated to the Aug. 21 shooting.
The investigation is ongoing, and Kennedy said anyone who was present and witnessed anything, is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-2121.
