Man Hit, Killed While Changing Tire Along Route 2

LEOMINSTER, MA — A 44-year-old man from Wendell was hit and killed along Route 2 Sunday evening while changing a tire on his pickup truck, according to state police. Daniel Levangie, 44, was outside his car along westbound Route 2 near 7 p.m. when another driver veered into the breakdown and hit him. The driver, a 51-year-old from Fitchburg, hit the back of Levangie's truck in a compact car, according to police. A child who was sleeping in Levangie's pickup truck was also injured and was treated at the scene. The driver from Fitchburg, who police did not immediately identify, was also injured and taken to UMass Memorial in Worcester for treatment of minor injuries. The cause of the collision was still under investigation Monday morning. Police did not announce any arrests or charges in connection to the incident.
